Sakhalin resident Evgeny Borozna won a bronze medal at the World Mas-Wrestling Championship in Khiva (Uzbekistan). The competition took place within the framework of the International Ethnosport Festival. More than 170 athletes from 18 countries competed for the title of the strongest, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
Six mas-wrestlers competed in the final. The Russians from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) took gold and silver at the championship. In the battle for third place, the President of the Mas-Wrestling Federation of the Sakhalin Region, Evgeniy Borozna, faced off against the representative of Ukraine. As a result of a stubborn struggle, the islander defeated his opponent in two rounds. Together with Evgeniy, the third step of the podium was shared by an athlete from Kazakhstan.
