An athlete from Olenegorsk received a certificate of honor for promoting healthy lifestyles

Russian champion and medalist of the World Winter Swimming Championship from Olenegorsk Elena Fursova received a Certificate of Appreciation for promoting a healthy lifestyle and winning the first stage of the Winter Swimming Federation festival in Russia in 2023. The award was presented to the northerner by the head of her hometown, Ivan Lebedev.

The woman was thanked for maintaining the sports image of Olenegorsk. The local walrus is now famous throughout the region, and her life experience is an example for other northerners who plan to take up winter swimming.

According to the press service of the administration of Olenegorsk, the polar athlete began her journey ten years ago with simple traditional Epiphany bathing. Late winter sailing became her life’s work and brought her many awards.

Now, on the basis of Olenegorsk, a whole backbone of fans of this sport has been formed. The impromptu club consists of five people who regularly organize swims.
