An athlete from Buryatia became the champion of the international freestyle wrestling tournament in Minsk

An athlete from Buryatia Irina Ologonova won gold at the international tournament for the prizes of Alexander Medved in Minsk. TV channel MIR 24, citing TASS, reports that in total Russian wrestlers won 42 medals.
Competitions on wrestling mats ended the day before, on September 17th. In total, more than 200 athletes from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation, a native of the village of Bayangol, Barguzinsky district of Buryatia, became the champion in the weight category up to 57 kg. In total, the Russian team at the tournament – 42 medals: 13 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze.
Also, another Buryat wrestler Dimchik Batomunkuev became the bronze medalist of the Grand Prix for the prizes of Alexander Medved, the athlete represented Belarus at the competitions.
Alexander Medved became the Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling three times, won world championships. The bear is recognized as the best athlete of Belarus of the 20th century. The international freestyle wrestling tournament for the prizes of a titled wrestler was established in 1970. In 1994, the tournament received the highest level of international tournaments – the Grand Prix.
