An 85-year-old refugee from Soledar told actress Tarasova about the horrors of life in Ukraine

“We sat in the basement, didn’t go to the toilet for days”

Actress Victoria Tarasova returned from Donbass, where she spent several days. The schedule of the star “Capercaillie” in the DPR was busy. The artist met with the military, the wounded and children. Tarasova also visited the temporary accommodation center for refugees from the recently liberated Soledar.

“Before visiting the center, I was asked to put on a medical mask,” Victoria says. “At first I didn’t understand why. And then it turned out that many people who were released in Soledar are now sick.

According to Victoria, in the center she experienced a real shock.

“I saw a grandmother on the bench,” says Victoria. She walked over to her, took her by the hand. She said that she had run away from Soledar. Her throat hurt, she coughed. I caught a cold on the road while I was escaping.

– What will happen to us? Where will they take us now? I still remember those phrases of hers. It turned out that when they started bombing, she went down to the basement and stayed there all the time until she was released.

“Then your guys came, they fed us tasty food,” the old woman told me. And they began to evacuate us. I walked 5 kilometers. In what she sat, in that she went.

And this grandmother is 85 years old! My heart bled as I listened to her story.

– I asked her: “How did you live until ours came?” She replied: “We lived badly. Everything was reminiscent of the Great Patriotic War. Then the Germans came and took everything from people, including domestic animals. And now – Ukrainian militants.”

– When they took Soledar, we were sitting in the basement: we didn’t eat, we didn’t go to the toilet for days. It was terribly scary,” this grandmother told me. – Then I walked, fell, they lifted me, carried me … Some guy gave me headphones so that I could at least hear something. But I lost them.

“I have no idea what they went through,” Victoria sighs. – I sat, listened to my grandmother and just swallowed tears. I had with me knitted socks for our military. I gave them to her. I hope they warm her up a little.

Will they give us at least a small room? she asked me last.

“Of course they will,” I reassured her. Everything will be fine soon. Although our military say that the situation is not easy. And the fighting will continue for another two years.
