Among the dead as a result of the events that took place on June 24 were military pilots from the Pskov garrison. The Governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, in his video message published on the Telegram channel, named the names of two Ka-52 pilots who died during the rebellion of the Wagner PMC units.
In his address, Vedernikov noted that an armed rebellion had taken place that could outgrow a civil war with a large number of victims. However, thanks to the coordinated work of many departments, it was possible to prevent a catastrophe and save thousands of lives. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and stressed that the crew of the Ka-52 helicopter, Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Vorozhtsov and Lieutenant Denis Oleinikov, adequately fulfilled their military duty, trying to prevent the devastating consequences of the reckless actions of the rebels.
