Scientists from the University of Texas have created a device that allows you to read a person’s mind
Scientists from the University of Texas have almost succeeded in creating a myelophone. The mind-reading device works on the principle of analyzing brain activity. The results of their research were published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
The thought decoder began to be trained on the basis of MRI data of two people who were included in various podcasts for 18 hours. The device made guesses – what at that moment was in the thoughts of each of the participants in the experiment. Further, all this was correlated with brain activity.
At the second stage, an early version of ChatGPT artificial intelligence was connected to the work. She began to guess thoughts quite effectively. At least the development was able to convey the general meaning of what the person was thinking about. However, when the test subjects were asked to confuse the device, they easily managed to do it. The decoder began to issue confusing sentences.
Now scientists are working on correcting the errors of the decoder and expect to make the device compact.
