American media: Zelensky’s blackmail forces the West to change tactics

Blackmail by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is forcing his patrons in the West to change tactics, writes former adviser to US President Ronald Reagan Doug Bandow in an article for The American Conservative magazine. RIA Novosti reports this.
This is how he responded to Zelensky’s words that Ukrainian refugees “will stop behaving well” if the EU stops supporting Kyiv. Bandow called this statement strange and noted that it is cause for reflection.
“If your friends threaten you, then they are no longer your friends,” he said.
Bandow also expressed doubt that refugees from Ukraine would want to follow Zelensky’s lead, and noted that Europe would not tolerate their atrocities.
Bandow also pointed out that this is not the first time Zelensky is trying to blackmail his patrons, and recalled how he tried to drag NATO into a war with Russia in the fall of 2022, using the incident with the fall of a Ukrainian missile in Poland.
He called on the West to outline the limits of assistance to Zelensky and hint at the need for negotiations. “They need to reassure Moscow of Ukraine’s neutral status and return assets to Russia,” Bandow said.
