“Cheerful, jokes a lot”: Gershkovich, arrested in the espionage case, does not complain about the conditions
Members of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission (POC) visited the American journalist Evan Gershkovich in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.
“He has no complaints about being kept in Lefortovo,” the commission said. Also visiting correspondent edition of The Wall Street Journal added that the American “cheerful and during the conversation joked a lot.”
Gershkovich is in the so-called “quarantine” cell. It is designed for two people, but “he does not have a neighbor yet.” According to members of the POC, the American’s diet “corresponds to established standards.”
On March 30, the court, at the request of the investigation, sent Gershkovich to a pre-trial detention center until May 29. He is charged with espionage.
