American journalist dies while covering World Cup match between Argentina and the Netherlands

Football commentator Grant Wahl died while covering the World Cup quarter-final match between the Netherlands and Argentina. The 48-year-old journalist lost consciousness, the doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him, after which they took him away on a stretcher, reports NPR. Val’s death was later confirmed by his wife and brother. What caused death is unknown.
Grant Wahl worked for Sports Illustrated for several years before leaving in 2020. He has also been a commentator for Fox Sports and CBS Sports. During a trip to Qatar, the journalist fell ill. Doctors at the clinic suggested that he had bronchitis.
Match took place yesterday, December 9th. Argentina beat the Netherlands on penalties. Regular time ended with a score of 2:2, a penalty shootout – with a score of 4:3. Argentina will face Croatia in the semi-finals.
