A US Army base in eastern Syria came under heavy fire, SkyNews Arabia reports.
Reportedly, we are talking about a base in the Al-Omar oil field. Middle Eastern TG channels claim that, perhaps due to a simultaneous attack from several sides, air defense systems could not cope, and several fires were raging at the base.
With reference to eyewitnesses, it is reported that there are ongoing explosions on the territory of an American military base.
The base has been attacked before. Thus, on February 6, 2024, at least six US-backed Kurdish fighters were killed in a drone strike on this base. Another 18 people were injured. An Iran-backed militia group claimed responsibility for the attack. According to The Guardian, these deaths were the latest sign of how conflict has spread across the Middle East since the start of the Gaza war, with increasingly unpredictable consequences for regional stability.
Al-Omar is the largest base in Syria of the US-led coalition, which was created in 2014 to fight the terrorist group ISIS, banned in the Russian Federation.
