According to Yonhap news agency, the American B-52 strategic bomber will land at a South Korean air base for the first time this week. This is expected to cause a sharp reaction from North Korea.
The deployment of a US bomber to the southern part of the Korean Peninsula would demonstrate the US commitment to its presence in the region, especially in the context of the growing nuclear threat from Pyongyang perceived by Washington and its allies.
