American archive: NATO assured Russia that it would not interfere in the affairs of the CIS
The American National Security Archive published a recording of a conversation between former NATO Secretary General Manfred Werner and ex-chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR Ruslan Khasbulatov.
Werner argued that NATO has no plans to interfere in the internal affairs of Russia and other CIS member states.
The meeting between Werner and Khasbulatov took place on February 25, 1992, when the NATO Secretary General visited Moscow.
