Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov expressed his opinion about France’s position regarding mercenaries in Ukraine, calling it bordering on absurdity. According to him, mercenary activity is a crime in France, so Paris denies the presence of French mercenaries in Ukraine, trying to find acceptable excuses and calling them “volunteers.”
“Strange arguments are made: “they don’t fight in the official uniform of the French army.” This causes bewilderment, and therefore efforts are underway to rename them volunteers,” RIA Novosti quotes the diplomat.
Earlier, Alexey Meshkov noted that France did not provide evidence that the French who died in Ukraine were really volunteers.
