Ambassador Antonov said that the United States is trying to underestimate the significance of the Russia-Africa summit
On Thursday, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said the United States is seeking to downplay the significance of the Russia-Africa summit, including its economic component, because of its desire to inflict strategic damage on Russia.
Antonov noted that “the hatred of everything Russian and the irrepressible desire to inflict a strategic defeat on us, including on the ‘economic front'” blinded officials in Washington. The ambassador believes that this is how the administration’s attempts to derail and downplay the second Russia-Africa summit, which was a success in St. Petersburg, can be explained.
Antonov notes that US officials still cannot accept the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his readiness to supply a number of African countries with 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain free of charge in the coming months.
Antonov’s statement was published on the Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in Washington.
