Amateur football club “Amkal” won the first round of the Cup of Russia

The debut of the Moscow amateur club “Amkal” in the 1/256 finals of the Russian Cup was a triumph. Amkal, which includes not only professional footballers but also bloggers and artists (the team represents the amateur Medialiga), defeated Krasnogorsk Zorkiy in a penalty shootout and advanced to the next level of the tournament.

The match was held in Moscow. The main time of the game ended with the score 1:1.

First, in the 23rd minute, a goal was scored by Sergei Polovitsky from Zorkiy. At the 58th minute, Alexei Gasilin, who used to play for Zenit, answered the same question.

However, in the penalty shoot-out, the players of Amkal were more productive – 8:7.

Zorkiy, unlike Amkal, is a professional club playing in the Second League, the third division of the Russian championship.

In the next round, Amkalu will meet FC Tver, also from the Second League.

The Russian Cup is held according to a new format, previously approved by the RFU. Teams advance to the final in two ways. One of them was called the “RPL path” – teams from the Russian Premier League, divided into 4 groups, move along this road. Among them, the games will be held in two rounds.

The second, “the way of the regions”, is the teams of the First League and the Second League, as well as amateur clubs.

The winners of the RPL Path and the Regions Path will meet each other in the final scheduled for June 2023.
