Altai swimmers successfully performed at the Summer Paralympic Games

As part of the Summer Paralympic Games “We are together. Sport” in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region, on June 21-25, the Russian Swimming Championship among athletes with POD was held.

Biysk swimmers, wards of the honored coach of Russia Elena Sokolova and coach Anton Papushin, won 21 medals in the pool of the local sports school of the Olympic reserve “Zarya”. Of these, 15 are gold, four are silver and two are bronze. At the same time, our athletes set several records at once, informs “Altai sport”. They are not only personal, but also Russian, continental, there is a global one.

Anna Ivanova broke the Russian freestyle record in her class in the 50m and set a new world record in the 200m. She also now holds the highest achievement in Europe in the 100m backstroke. In turn, Roman Zhdanov set European records in the 50m breaststroke and 150m individual medley.

Anna Ivanova and three-time Paralympic Games champion Roman Zhdanov have the largest number of awards won by athletes from the Altai Territory in Dzerzhinsk – six each. Roman Zhdanov won six gold medals, and Anna – five gold and one silver.

Yegor Efrosinin won three gold and one silver medals, Alexei Ganyuk won the full set of awards, Vadim Melekhin took silver and bronze in Dzerzhinsk. In the team championship, the team of the Altai Territory is the second. More than 350 athletes from 46 regions of Russia took part in the swimming competitions.
