Altai athletes led the medal standings at the Great Altai Games in China

Over the three days of the Great Altai competition, which took place in China, the team from the Altai Territory won 24 medals.

In the first Winter Games “Big Altai”, the region was represented by 11 athletes under the age of 19. The competition took place from January 16 to 18 at the Jiangzuyunshan ski resort in China.

Altai athletes took part in competitions in alpine skiing, speed skating, snowboarding, figure skating, cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering, the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports clarified. As a result of the competition, the Altai team took first place in the games in terms of the total number of medals.

Thus, skiers Grigory Ognev, Alexandra Ilyina and Mikhail Bibikin, speed skaters Anastasia Troshina and Mikhail Kulikov, alpine skiers Varvara Sorokina and Kirill Redkozubov, snowboarders Mikhail Cherkashin and Evelina Vognerubova, and figure skater Anastasia Galitskaya distinguished themselves in the medal standings.

Let us remind you that 154 athletes from Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia took part in the games.
