Alpine skiers from all over Russia gathered in Monchegorsk for competitions

Monchegorsk is hosting the All-Russian Alpine Skiing Competition for the prize of Valery Tsyganov. The races bear the name of a resident of this city in the Murmansk region – a multiple champion of the USSR, the first Soviet skier who won the World Cup in 1981.
Monchegorsk competitions are among the ten largest ski races throughout Russia. Young athletes of the country are fighting for the title of the best here for the 34th time.
In 2023, more than 300 skiers from 21 regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus are involved in the races. According to the press service of the Monchegorsk administration, at one time popular athletes participated in the competition: champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, the World Cup and championships Sergey Ridzik, Pavel Trikhichev, Valentina Golenkova.
Two competitive days are already behind us. Participants received their prizes in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.
Earlier, “MK in Murmansk” said that the mountaineering championship of the Murmansk region will last more than ten days.
