Almost half of Russians believe that the Internet for children is more harmful than useful

The number of Russians who believe that the Internet is rather harmful for children exceeded the number of those who hold the opposite position for the first time, showed survey FOM (45% versus 42%). Supporters of the first version note that there is a lot of unnecessary and harmful information on the Internet (18%), children stop thinking independently and begin to study worse (9%) and become addicted (8%). The main arguments of those who spoke in favor of the Internet are that there is a lot of interesting and valuable information (20%), it broadens one’s horizons (11%) and is needed for study (10%).

At the same time, the vast majority of respondents believe that the main responsibility for ensuring the safety of children on the Internet is borne by parents. The most common methods are using parental control software and installing an antivirus (every third respondent).
