Volunteer Olesya Akhmerova in the VKontakte group reported that her colleagues found almost 100 stiffened dead dogs and cats at the dump in garbage bags.
As the site learned kp.ru, nearby in the village of Yuryevka there is a shelter for homeless animals “Rich”. Volunteers who came to feed the dogs saw body bags in the organization’s backyard along with other rubbish.
They called specialists from the Saratov Interdistrict Station for the Control of Animal Diseases, and together they counted 79 dog corpses of various ages and 11 dead cats with kittens. The contents of one of the bags froze into a solid block of ice, so the exact number of dead animals is unknown.
Akhmerova stressed that the previous garbage collection was carried out on January 20. This means that in 15 days the corpses of at least 90 animals were sent to waste.
The incident in Yuryevka attracted the attention of the regional prosecutor’s office. The shelter began to check the implementation of veterinary and other legislation. The causes of death of animals are established. The prosecutor of the Gagarinsky administrative district of Saratov, Dina Bakhteeva, left for the scene.
