Traditionally, during the winter holidays, the preliminary stages of the All-Russian youth bandy competitions are held throughout the country. This season, the Arkhangelsk region will be represented by seven teams from the Pomorie Olympic Reserve sports school.
According to the regional Ministry of Sports, boys born in 2011 are holding the qualifying tournament at home. In addition to young Arkhangelsk residents, eight more teams from the Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Moscow, Samara regions and the Komi Republic are taking part in it. All of them are divided into two groups. After the group stage games, play-offs will take place. Based on their results, the four strongest teams will advance to the final tournament of the All-Russian Braided Ball competition.
In the first match, young Arkhangelsk residents met their peers from Novokuibyshevsk. They were able to resist the northerners only in the first 15 minutes. The remaining time passed with full game and territorial advantage of the yellow-greens and ended with the defeat of the opponent – 8:1.
It is worth noting that three more Vodnik youth teams started the All-Russian competition with victories.
