All-Russian wrestling festival will be held in Smolensk

For two whole weeks, from October 31 to November 12, the IV All-Russian Wrestling Festival “Youth of Russia” will be held in Smolensk in the Smena sports and recreation complex.
Boys and girls under 16 and 18 years old from different regions of Russia will take part in it. Athletes will compete in five types of wrestling: freestyle, women’s, Greco-Roman, sambo and judo. Wrestling competitions will be held on November 1-2, sambo on November 5-6 and judo from November 9 to 12. The competition program is published on the website smol-borba.ru.
A federal experimental project is being implemented at the festival: “Implementation of the technology for the complex selection of gifted children specializing in martial arts.”
The aim of the project is to introduce a technology for the complex selection of sports-gifted children specializing in martial arts on the resource basis of state schools (technical schools) of the Olympic reserve.
The participants of the festival were greeted by the Hero of Russia, three-time Olympic champion, Senator Alexander Karelin:
“I welcome the participants, judges, guests and spectators of the All-Russian wrestling festival “Youth of Russia” among boys and girls!
I am grateful to the Wrestling Federation of the Smolensk Region, the partners of the competitions for the decision to host such a representative show of promising and talented wrestlers in the capital of the region.
The festival is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children and teenagers to the world of martial arts, a good form of promoting physical culture and sports and the right values.
The best athletes of the country will gather in Smolensk to test their strength before significant official competitions of the Russian and international level.
