All-Russian Walking Day celebrated in Sochi

In the Khostinsky district of Sochi, in the Matsesta square, events dedicated to the All-Russian Walking Day were held, about 300 residents and guests of the city walked along the river and overcame a symbolic distance of 2022 meters, the city administration reports.

The warm-up before the start in the format of “exercises with the champion” was held by a member of the Russian and regional national team in Thai boxing, Champion of Europe and Russia in 2022 Masis Hakobyan. The first Olympic trampoline champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, chairman of the regional Olympic Council Irina Karaeva also took part in the warm-up.

According to the organizers, the main goal of the event is to attract the general public to sports and a healthy lifestyle. Anatoly Miroshnikov, Director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sochi City Administration, sports infrastructure is actively developing in Sochi, represented by “health paths” and workout areas.

Recall that about 300,000 people regularly go in for sports in the Olympic Sochi. The All-Russian Walking Day has been held in all regions of the country with the support of the Russian Olympic Committee since 2015.
