A tennis tournament is taking place in Kaluga. The championship is held as part of the Russian Tennis Tour under the auspices of the Russian Tennis Federation. The competition took place in the Kaluzhniki sports park, the press service of the Kaluga City Duma reported on Monday, October 9.
About 30 young athletes from 10 Russian cities took part in the tournament. Athletes are entered in two subgroups: 9 – 10 years old and up to 15 years old, in singles and doubles.
The competition participants were greeted by the Head of the Kaluga City Government, Yuri Moiseev, and the Minister of Sports of the Kaluga Region, Oleg Serdyukov.
“Kaluga is hosting such large-scale tennis competitions for the first time: not only representatives of Kaluga and the region participate in them, but also athletes from neighboring regions,” said Moiseev, expressing confidence that with the advent of such an excellent base for training and competitions, tennis in Kaluga will reach a qualitatively new level.
