Today in the Stavropol Territory competitions for the Russian Cup in hang gliding started. The event is held for the second time on Mount Yutsa, Piedmont District. The competition will last until August 13.
“This year, 25 athletes from Moscow, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, the cities of the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody arrived in the Foothills. Hang gliding is gaining more and more popularity, thousands of people who want to fly come to Yutsu every year,” said the head of the Foothill District Nikolai Bondarenko.
The local administration noted that last year the competition recorded a record number of participants – more than forty.
Mount Yutsa is located in a special way: a unique “wind rose” is created around it. Such a natural phenomenon served as the fact that Yutsa became a Mecca for those who like to “stand on the wing” – not only hang gliders, but also paragliders. Holding all-Russian events is not uncommon here. Last year, for example, a unique all-Russian project to popularize paragliding took place.
