All Moscow schools will be included in the educational project “Young Polar Explorer”

At the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society, a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the educational local history project “Young Polar Explorer” was held, at which the start of the project was announced in all secondary educational institutions of the capital.

The idea of ​​the Young Polar Explorer project was born in the North-Eastern district of the capital. In the districts of Sviblovo and Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo (SVAO) there are many streets and alleys named after the great discoverers, explorers of the North Pole: Semyon Dezhnev, Georgy Sedov, Vladimir Rusanov, Fridtjof Nansen. And last year, schoolchildren of the district already studied the life of northern explorers, made projects on their travels and discoveries.

“If we talk about the first participants in the project, last year there were about five hundred of them from three educational complexes of the North-Eastern Administrative Okrug, where I am the chairman of the governing board,” said the author and ideological inspirer of the project Alexei Shaposhnikov. — This year, it was decided to extend the project to all schools in the capital, so that there will be much more participants.

It is assumed that students of secondary educational institutions will study the Arctic zones of Russia, everything related to their history, development, research of polar explorers, as well as the prospects for the development of the Northern Sea Route.

— The Arctic is a strategic direction of development for Russia. Our young researchers have great prospects and a huge scope for activity, because the Arctic has only been explored by two percent,” said Alexey Shaposhnikov.
