All hospitals in Moscow will have a service of social coordinators

Now there are social coordinators in 17 hospitals of the capital, but by the end of the year they will work in all Moscow hospitals. And then the practice of social support will spread to patients of new emergency complexes.
The Social Coordinators Service was created to provide assistance to Muscovites from the moment they are admitted to the hospital until the time when the person is provided with all the necessary social services after discharge.
“There is no need to submit an application to contact the coordinators – they themselves identify the request of patients and proactively come to their aid,” the official website of the Moscow Mayor says.
Thus, coordination has been established between doctors and social workers in providing assistance to those who need it. First of all, we are talking about lonely elderly people, the disabled, patients who have undergone major operations.
The essence of the work of the Social Coordinators Service is as follows: when its employees find out that a person needs help, they clarify all the necessary data and, while the patient is in the hospital, determine what kind of social support he needs to be provided.
“Thanks to interaction with the capital’s social services, it is possible to select targeted support in each specific case, up to sending the patient after discharge to an inpatient social protection institution if he needs professional care,” mos.ru specifies.
Thus, a person, having got to the hospital, is not left alone with the problems that have arisen, not only medical, but also social, domestic. And after discharge, social services help with the preparation of the necessary documents for receiving social support, and with obtaining technical means of rehabilitation, if necessary, and with other issues.
The social coordinators service will also appear in six new emergency medical complexes. In addition, according to the new standards for providing emergency care, tests and examinations will be carried out here right in the patient’s room, and special rest rooms and a cafe will be equipped for the patient’s relatives. In addition, if necessary, they will be provided with the help of a psychologist.
Emergency complexes at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine and the Veresaev City Clinical Hospital will receive the first patients at the beginning of 2023.
