All experts “thanked” the West for the record turnout in the presidential elections

The closer to the front line, the more voters

Even earlier than all the experts, the head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, spoke on this topic: “I want to say thank you to the West, it united us. We understood to a greater extent how important it is to be together now, you know, the more pressure is put on us, the more we fight back.”

And it’s hard to disagree with the head of the Central Election Commission. It cannot be said that the advertising campaign for these elections was in any way outstanding. Rather, the incentive to come to the polls was the events taking place around us. The persistent attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine already on the territory of Russia, drone raids, shelling of Belgorod, belligerent statements by the same Macron are what caused the record percentage of turnout, and not the posters hung around the city and not the commercials on TV

Political scientist Sergei Markov also believes that “a high turnout is a manifestation of people’s civic position. The more shelling of Belgorod and Crimea and Donetsk, the higher the turnout.”

Another proof is no longer evaluative, but mathematical: the closer to the combat zone, the higher the turnout. The final turnout for the new regions of the DPR is 88%, LPR 87%, Zaporozhye 85%, Kherson 83%. With an average turnout in Russia of 73%.

It is unlikely that in the DPR the advertising coverage of the audience was higher than in the two Russian capitals. But there life itself pushed us to the elections.
