Aliyev said he is confident in the successful reintegration of the Armenian population of Karabakh

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the process of reintegration of the Armenian population of Karabakh will be successful. He stated this following negotiations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Aliyev recalled that earlier a meeting was held in the city of Yevlakh between representatives of Karabakh and Azerbaijan. “Today the second meeting is taking place in Khankendi. I have not yet been informed about its results. But I am confident that the process of integration of the Armenian population of Karabakh into Azerbaijani society will proceed successfully,” said he (quote from TASS).
Aliyev also noted that five days ago Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty. He explained that all those living in the Karabakh region are citizens of Azerbaijan, regardless of nationality. “Their rights and freedoms will be ensured in full,” – emphasized Aliyev (quote from Sputnik Azerbaijan).
Erdogan expects Armenia to “accept the hand of peace extended to it and take sincere steps,” the agency writes.
On September 25, 2023, Erdogan came to Azerbaijan for a visit. Their meeting with Aliyev took place in Nakhichevan. According to the press service of the Azerbaijani leader, after the official ceremony, the leaders held a one-on-one meeting.
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire. On September 21, negotiations were held in Yevlakh between a delegation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities, during which a plan for the reintegration of the local population was presented.
