Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov reminded the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, that Russia has bordered Poland since 1945, when the region became part of the USSR. He reported this on his Telegram channel.
“I am deeply sorry to interrupt… (I apologize wildly in translation from English. – Vedomosti) It so happened, we have been here since 1945,” – wrote He.
Borrell previously said that the European Union cannot allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to “create a puppet government in Kyiv” and “have a Russian army on the Polish border.”
After World War II, by decision of the Potsdam Conference in 1945, the northern part of East Prussia, together with Königsberg, was temporarily given to the USSR, the remaining two-thirds were transferred to Poland. Later, the Koenigsberg region was fully recognized as the territory of the USSR and renamed the Kaliningrad region. Subsequently, it became part of Russia.
Poland borders Russia in the Kaliningrad region. The length of the land section is 203.3 km.
