The Alfa Romeo F1 Factory team has announced the departure of the head – Frederic Wasser will leave the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen in January 2023 to join the Ferrari factory team.

The French specialist joined the team and became CEO of Sauber Motorsport in 2017. For six seasons under the leadership of Mr. Vasser, the team began to steadily score points, the number of sponsors increased and the staff of the team expanded. In 2022 Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen finished sixth in the Formula One Constructors’ Championship, the team’s best result since 2012.

The departure of the top manager is connected with the transition to the Scuderia Ferrari factory team. The team from Maranello has officially confirmed the dismissal of the current head of the team, Mattia Binotto, who will leave his post on December 31, 2022 – Frederic Wasser will replace him at the head of Scuderia Ferrari. The French specialist will take up his new position on January 9th.

“I am honored and delighted to be joining Scuderia Ferrari as Team Principal. As someone with a lifelong passion for motorsport, Ferrari has always represented the pinnacle of the racing world for me. I look forward to working with a talented and truly passionate team at Maranello to honor the history and heritage of the Scuderia and benefit our tifosi around the world,” said Frédéric Wasser.

Recall that Mr. Wasser has been working in motorsport for over 25 years. Previously, the specialist held various positions in junior racing series, and since 2016 he has been present as a top manager in Formula 1 – at first the Frenchman led the Renault F1 Team, and from 2017 to 2022 he was in charge of Sauber Motorsport.
