Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk will lead the Russian delegation at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“Yesterday I received a lot of questions regarding who will represent Russia at the APEC summit in San Francisco. On behalf of the president, the Russian delegation will be headed there by Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk,” he said.

In early October, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the United States does not expect Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the APEC summit in San Francisco. After this, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov stated that Russia would independently determine the level of its participation in the APEC summit. At that time, according to the diplomat, Moscow had not yet received an invitation to the event.

The APEC summit will be held this year from November 15 to 17 in San Francisco. The forum includes 19 countries and two territories, including Russia, China, USA, Japan, Canada, etc.
