On August 21, the solemn opening ceremony of the Cup of the Governor of the Tula Region in hockey took place in the Ice Palace. Teams of the Youth Hockey League (MHL) will compete for this prize for the fourth time.
Participants and guests of the tournament were greeted by Governor Alexei Dyumin.
“Residents of the Tula region really love hockey. And today’s traditional tournament for the region is a vivid confirmation of this. This year, he took a big step forward – he gained international status. We are glad to host talented athletes not only from Russia, but also from Belarus and Kazakhstan on Tula soil. I am sure that today we will see a beautiful, fair game with a stubborn struggle on this ice, where each team will show their maximum,” said Alexey Dyumin.
The head of the region thanked the famous domestic hockey players who came to the opening of the tournament – Boris Mikhailov and Alexei Kasatonov, as well as Alexander Shamsutdinov, chairman of the board of directors of Poliplast Group of Companies JSC, for supporting Tula hockey. The governor wished good luck to the athletes and bright matches to the fans.
The five strongest MHL teams take part in the annual pre-season tournament: Mikhailov Academy (Tula Region), Chaika (Nizhny Novgorod), SKA-1946 (St. Petersburg), Dynamo-Shinnik (Belarus), Snezhnye Leopards (Kazakhstan).
Alexey Dyumin pays great attention to the development of hockey in the Tula region. In recent years, eight multifunctional ice arenas have appeared in the region, mass hockey, hockey in felt boots and sledge hockey are developing. Hockey boxes are being installed throughout the region. Every year more and more people from Tula are involved in amateur and professional hockey.
