Alexander Bolshunov ran number one, Savely Korostelev – number two. It was in this order that they came to the procedure of changing their skis. Third in the intermediate segment was another representative of the Pomorie team, Alexey Chervotkin.
After the classics, the leaders went to the second part in free style. And here the struggle unfolded right up to the last meters of the distance. At the finish line, Alexander Bolshunov and Alexey Chervotkin fought for the victory.
And yet Alexander did not give the gold to his partner on the Arkhangelsk region team: Bolshunov was first, Chervotkin was second – the skiers were separated by 0.2 seconds. This is the 23rd consecutive victory of the “king of skis” this season. Sergei Ardashev from Tatarstan won bronze.
– I’m gradually getting into shape, but my opponents don’t let me relax. Therefore, I am very happy to win the skiathlon! “Thank you to my family for their support,” said Alexander Bolshunov, two-time Russian champion in Malinovka, after the finish.
