Crimea is ready for Ukraine’s counteroffensive, there will be no catastrophe, the head of the region Sergey Aksyonov assured. According to him, the armed forces of the Russian Federation have built a modern, deeply echeloned defense, there are more than enough forces.
“You can’t underestimate the enemy, but you can absolutely say that we are ready for this and there will be no catastrophe. I believe that the decision to build defensive structures in the Crimea and on the approaches to the peninsula was correct and justified. This does not mean that they will necessarily be used for their intended purpose. We had to prepare for any development of events, and we did it,” the governor wrote in his Telegram channel.
Formerly foreign news agencies reported that Ukraine is preparing 40,000 recruits for a counteroffensive, naming Lugansk and Zaporizhia as the main areas of the counteroffensive. However, according to CNN, Ukraine changed “some military plans” after the discovery of secret Pentagon documents online.
In March, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak declaredthat the Ukrainian armed forces can take Crimea in five to seven months.
