Ukrainians moved from counteroffensives to defense: should we expect new attacks?

The line of contact in the zone of the special military operation has stabilized. This is what most military experts think. In their opinion, the Armed Forces of Ukraine no longer have the strength for active operations, and the replenishment of the Russian troops has not yet arrived. However, a number of analysts urge not to engage in hat-taking – although the enemy’s offensive has run out of steam, he continues to transfer reserves. The question is in which sector the main battle of this autumn will take place – in Kharkov or Kherson.

With the counteroffensive in the Kherson direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not work out. All previous attempts to attack were repulsed. The Ukrainian command, apparently, adequately calculates its forces and understands that the Russian army will be aimed at “grinding” the maximum number of the most motivated and trained units, of which the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have so many left.

So Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, had to admit that in the Kherson direction the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was “unpleasantly changing.” This is evidenced by the unsuccessful attempts of the Ukrainian army to attack units of the Russian army.

At the same time, experts say, Arestovich’s statement about “unpleasant changes” was most likely made to divert attention from the process of building up forces in this direction. Kherson is a tasty target for Kyiv, on reaching which you can promote.

In a number of other areas, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to go on the defensive. So, Russian troops conducted assault operations on the southeastern outskirts of Soledar and attacked in the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe village of Bakhmutskoye and on the outskirts of Bakhmut (Artemovsk) itself.

The Ukrainian army also went on the defensive in the Luhansk direction. Russian troops did not allow the Armed Forces to advance in the area of ​​​​Berestovoye, moreover, heavy artillery fire is being fired at enemy positions.

Russian troops are shelling the fortified area of ​​the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdeevka, storming positions in Krasnogorovka and near Novomikhailovka.

According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 120 Ukrainian militants who tried to attack our positions were killed in the Krasnolimansky direction. As a result, in addition to manpower, the nationalists lost three tanks, four armored fighting vehicles and four pickup trucks.

Information has appeared on social networks that conflicts are brewing between foreign mercenaries and militants of the Ukrainian national battalions. Thus, war correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny spoke on his Telegram channel about the shootout that took place between the fighters of the Azov terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation and Polish mercenaries.

“It all started with the fact that the Poles, having unsuccessfully launched an attack on Russian positions in the Kremennaya area, and having lost several compatriots, refused to repeat what had happened. This, in turn, greatly outraged the local lads: you are paid for this work, go do it – probably the Right Sector judged so, ”wrote the military correspondent (“Right Sector” was recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia).

According to him, after the skirmish, machine guns were used. They tried to cover up the incident. It is planned to withdraw mercenaries from mixed formations or even form new brigades on a national basis.

In the meantime, despite the transition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the defense, it is too early to relax. The grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is seriously strengthening not only in the Kherson, but also in the Kharkov direction. Parts of the 10th mountain assault, 30th mechanized, 53rd, 54th, 56th motorized infantry and 81st airmobile brigade, as well as the new 1st special forces brigade named after Ivan Bohun, arrive here.

Little is known about the combat status of these units. So the question of the direction in which the “battle of autumn” can take place remains open.
