The head of the Ministry of Finance, Anton Siluanov, said that legislative initiatives to differentiate taxation already exist and will be developed in 2024. This is how he commented on President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to modernize the tax system, made in his address to the Federal Assembly.
“What was the president talking about? About the need to make taxation more equitable. Therefore, we will work together with legislators; there are legislative initiatives on this issue. We will also work with business,” Mr. Siluanov told reporters (quoted by Interfax).
According to him, spending on the initiatives announced in the address to the Federal Assembly will not lead to an imbalance in the budget. “All the decisions that we heard today, all the instructions that were given, will be implemented within the framework of budget balance, since the budget is the basis of macroeconomic stability,” Anton Siluanov said on the Russia 1 TV channel.
In his address to the Federal Assembly, the President instructed modernize the tax system and fix it in a new form until 2030. According to Vladimir Putin, it is necessary to think about increasing the tax burden on people with higher incomes. He also said it was necessary to “close all sorts of loopholes” that some companies use to evade taxes or understate their tax payments.
