Türkiye voted for Erdogan. His opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroglu accepted the defeat with dignity. But the citizens of Turkey were divided into two irreconcilable camps. While some are celebrating their victory, others are gloating: “And don’t complain later that in a couple of days the price of carrots will rise from 50 to 100 lire.”

We talked to Russians living in Turkey.

Maxim lives in Antalya for a year and a half. Over the weekend, he watched Russians rejoice at Erdogan’s victory at the resort: “Our relocators were so rooting for Erdogan, as if they were electing a president in their country. After the results were announced, they enthusiastically congratulated each other on their victory.”

A resident of Istanbul, Yana, voted for Kemal Kılıçdaroglu: “All my acquaintances, friends, colleagues voted for Erdogan’s opponent. But how it happened, it happened.

I was surprised that some Russians who have citizenship did not go to the polls. One woman living in Antalya wrote in a chat: I don’t understand what is the point of voting, this is not my homeland, what do I care who will rule. Many supported her, they say, we are not cold from these elections – not hot, we live on the seashore and that’s okay. And there are many such people.

I wonder why a person received citizenship? It turns out that they do not care what happens to prices in stores and with rental housing, they do not care about the rise in price of gasoline and the high cost of a communal apartment. Erdogan made many promises before the elections, but I doubt that he will fulfill them.

As for the Turks, after the votes were counted, some aggressively expressed their dissatisfaction, others calmly accepted Erdogan’s victory. To be honest, on the voting day, no one doubted his victory, neither supporters nor opponents of the president.”

Russian-speaking bloggers in Turkey, who admitted that they voted for Kılıçdaroglu before the start of the vote count, faced a wave of hate.

“Thousands of Russians attacked me on social networks, left me offensive comments: this is not your country, you are just another immigrant, and your Kemal is an American figurehead,” says blogger Ekaterina. – I have been living in Turkey for 15 years, I received citizenship a long time ago.

I remember when bread cost 25 kurush instead of 7 lira. I want the country to be prosperous, not like in the last five years. So that my children have prospects and a happy future. May those who voted for Erdogan now enjoy the Turkey they deserve. And they do not complain that in a couple of days the prices for carrots will increase from 50 to 100 lire.

Blogger Igor has been living in Kemer for ten years, he voted for Erdogan: “Finally, Russians can safely buy a ticket to Turkey, otherwise people were afraid to come to us before the elections. Everyone was frozen in anticipation. My familiar tour operator was rubbing his hands today, it turns out that immediately after the elections, the Russians rushed to book tours. True, I would not be surprised if, due to the hype, the Turks raise the cost of hotels and flights. And tourists will no longer be able to fly here because of the prohibitive prices.”
