After a series of corruption revelations related to both people’s deputies and civil servants, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that “dealers” who work for their own pockets will be tried.
Zelensky stressed that the current moment is critical for the transformation of the Ukrainian state. He added that persons holding high positions in government or sitting in parliament are obliged to make efforts for the prosperity of the country, and not to realize their personal interests for the sake of profit.
Over the past few months in Ukraine there have been many scandals related to people’s deputies. In early August, Anatoly Gunko, a member of the Servant of the People party, was detained for taking a bribe. Another representative of this party recently spent his vacation in the Maldives, where he rested in a five-star hotel.
