After an explosion at a thermal power plant in Tuva, a third of all houses in Shagonar were left without heat

As a result of the accident and subsequent explosion at the thermal power plant in the city of Shagonar in Tuva, 278 residential buildings, or about a third of all residential buildings in the city, were left without heating. This was reported to TASS by housing and communal services.

“278 residential buildings were left without heat supply, including 62 apartment buildings, in which about 4 thousand people live – this is a third of the city’s total population and the number of houses. 19 social facilities were also damaged,” the agency’s source said.

The explosion of the thermal power plant occurred early in the morning of March 6. The preliminary cause of the accident is the accumulation of coal gases. 23 station workers were injured, 15 of them were hospitalized. Firefighters managed to completely extinguish the fire only after 18:00 local time. Criminal cases have been initiated regarding negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities (Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
