African Boers began to convert to Orthodoxy

According to the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Klinsky Leonid Gorbachev, three African Boer communities have already moved to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Metropolitan Leonid noted that priests were sent to take care of Africans in their settlements.
According to the metropolitan, the Boers were interested in Russian Orthodoxy for a long time, despite the fact that initially they were Protestants for a long time. In addition, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa said that already at the beginning of 2023 he ordained a deacon, and then a priest, Father Jacob Smuts, who, after completing his priestly practice, will go to Capatun.
The metropolitan recalled that the abolition of apartheid in South Africa was followed by the persecution of the Boers – it was then that they got the idea to move to Russia. However, as Metropolitan Leonid said, the Russian Orthodox Church is ready to “stretch a helping hand” to the African Boers.
