Afghanistan banned contraceptives: will a woman get freedom of choice in a new civilization

Khadija, 35, a Kabul resident and mother of three, says her youngest is one year old. To prevent another pregnancy, she visited the midwife every two months for injections. But two weeks ago the midwife refused to help her. “She said that the Taliban had forbidden them to inject contraceptives because it was haram,” she says. “I went to buy pills on the street.” They seem to still be able to buy them from under the counter, but with a huge overpayment and the risk of getting caught.

Recently, Afghan women have been banned from receiving medical education and working as doctors, and male gynecologists are completely outlawed there, because of this, maternal mortality jumped sharply last year. Just think about it: every two hours, according to the UN, one pregnant woman dies in Afghanistan.

But the Afghan authorities themselves are unlikely to be sad about this. Actually, women in their paradigm are needed only to give life to future warriors. Nothing else for. She fulfilled her duty to the Motherland – she is free.

I’m still waiting for our legislators to think of this. It is clear that in order to increase the birth rate, about which everyone is now broadcasting from high tribunes, it is not enough to pay maternity capital.

Exclusively for the sake of 600+ thousand rubles from the state, a rather narrow layer of Russian women gives birth. For most, this is just a nice bonus, but by no means an incentive. Yes, and all other financial nishtyaki from the state, too. Not so much of this money and a lot, if you count.

Because the child still needs to be raised. Feed, clothe, heal, educate… Do not be afraid for his future.

It was in the Russian village of the times of serfdom that it was enough just to feed the baby and tie it to the cradle so that it would not blurt out, and what should he do when he grows up – mow hay or go to recruits, the master will order. At least one, but had to stay to feed the old parents. It was their guarantee and their contributions to their tomorrow.

Having many children was the main bond, without which it was impossible to survive in a traditional agrarian society.

This is not how it works in the modern post-industrial world.

In civilized countries, there is no longer an economic need for having many children, there is no need to produce “children with a margin”, in the expectation that someone will die and someone will not.

True, the Russian authorities have another goal, in addition to the economy, to increase the birth rate. There are few of us, but a lot of land.

Children are needed in order to fill sparsely populated territories. To have someone to protect them. It was the same in medieval times. Cities, and around the fortress walls and ditches, and the army around the perimeter. This is a tradition.

The goal is clear, but the methods of achieving it in modern conditions have not been worked out.

For example, the same Alexander Dugin proposes to plunge everyone into the pre-Petrine era: “… move from Modern to Tradition at once. And that’s it. Cities will be immediately settled, strong Orthodox families with many children will form on the earth. Divorces are not like abortions! – will be prohibited. They won’t. You can’t do everything.” Of course, here it is somehow not very, in my opinion, illuminated how we are going to fight the collective West in a couple of decades, when they will have all the achievements and technologies, and only axes and pitchforks from our side. It is assumed that we will win by numbers.

But only by limiting access to abortions, as Dugin suggests, you will not achieve an increase in the birth rate either. Contraception is the main cause of the global demographic crisis. Afghanistan was the first to understand this.

The option to ban contraception simply suggests itself. Many knowledge is known, many sorrows. And in the future, put women under lock and key, not to let them get an education. Make you completely dependent on your husband.

Actually, the entire thousand-year history of civilization until the middle of the twentieth century is about this.

As soon as a woman received the freedom to choose how many children to have, she ceased to focus only on the family.

It’s not about comfort and material well-being.

Otherwise, in the rich countries of the West and in America, they would give birth as undermined. And there is the same situation as we have. Simple reproduction, when two gave birth to two, and even lower.

And they breed and multiply in impoverished India, in the Middle East, in Afghanistan …

In general, in human history, several types of reproduction of their own kind can be distinguished.

Traditional or patriarchal, as in ancient times. It is characterized by high birth rates and high infant mortality. God gave – God took. Children are valuable not in themselves, not as individuals, but as extra hands, a working resource.

Of the benefits – the strongest survive, with strong immunity. That is why our grandparents, who were born at the turn of the era, lived to a ripe old age. They were just the kind of people who were lucky not to die as babies and then get proper medicine.

In a modern post-industrial society, few children are born, but infant mortality is many times lower and they live long, although this is another big problem – where the standard of living and medicine is high, people age. They stop investing in the economy. But does the economy really need extra hands, in the presence of overpopulated third world countries, where they are ready to fight for every penny?

Western society is a society of wealthy and prosperous, but old people. East – aggressive and impoverished young people who do not have enough space under the sun.

Which path will Russia choose?
