Affected residents of Podolsk will not pay for heating in January

Residents of the Klimovsk microdistrict in the city of Podolsk near Moscow, who have been left without heating since January 4, will have their utility bills recalculated. Moscow region authorities have canceled heating payments for the entire month of January and are compensating for electricity costs.
“Residents who suffered due to the accident in Klimovsk will not have payment for heating in their January payment. We will also compensate for electricity costs – payment will be calculated according to the December payment. There is no need to submit any applications, we will do everything automatically,” wrote the governor of the Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov in his Telegram channel.
Residents of 173 apartment buildings in Klimovsk remained without heating on January 4 due to an accident in the boiler room of the Klimovsky Specialized Cartridge Plant. Since the plant is a sensitive facility, access to the accident site was not immediately obtained.
Vice-Governor of the Moscow Region Evgeny Khromushin statedthat the authorities learned about the incident a day after citizens complained on social networks. January 7, Moscow region authorities stated about the launch of heating in another 44 houses in the city. Thus, 90% of residential buildings are connected to heating.
TFR excited a criminal case regarding the incident under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. According to investigators, the cause of the accident was improper operation of the equipment.
