According to federal law, veterans of the Great Patriotic War are entitled to a number of benefits and additional measures of social support. Every year, the amount of material assistance is indexed, in addition, the state provides veterans with annual one-time payments on Victory Day. The procedure for granting state benefits to veterans is defined in the Federal Law of January 12, 1995 No. 5-FZ “On Veterans”. Large Russian companies often join in supporting veterans.
For example, in honor of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Aeroflot decided to traditionally support veterans. According to the press service, the company will provide them with a free flight in economy class from May 2 to May 11, 2023. In addition, eligible veterans will receive a certificate for a second free flight within a year.
A free flight is available to veterans and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former minor prisoners of fascism living in Russia, the CIS countries, the Baltics and Georgia, or citizens of these states. Heroes of the Soviet Union and full cavaliers of the Order of Glory, who are veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War, are given the opportunity to book a flight in Comfort or Business class. Each participant can also arrange free transportation of an accompanying person.
You can arrange a flight upon presentation of a valid passport and a certificate issued by the relevant authorities of the former USSR in the form that was in force on January 1, 1992.
