Support for sports and a healthy lifestyle of Russians has always been one of the most important priorities of the state’s social policy.

Last November, Svetlana Gashkina, director of the Department of Budget Policy in the Social Sphere and Science of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, announced that the budget for the development of sports in the country for the coming years will be increased.

The official noted that spending on financing programs for the development of physical culture and sports will be increased from 67.9 billion to 70.4 billion rubles in 2023. In 2024, the budget for the promotion of sports will increase from 62.2 billion to 64.4 billion rubles.

“Increase spending in 2023 by 2.5 billion rubles, 2.2 billion rubles in 2024. The main factors that increase costs are the redistribution of budget allocations from other state programs, taking into account the prioritization of ongoing activities, this is 700 million rubles in 2023 and 1.8 billion rubles in 2024,” Svetlana Gashkina specified.
