Actor Mel Gibson to support charges against Weinstein in court

Hollywood blockbuster star 66-year-old actor and director Mel Gibson may appear in a Los Angeles court against producer Harvey Weinstein in a sexual assault case.
Artist intends to support the accusations of a masseuse he knows well, who is in the case under the name of Jane Doe No. 3. The woman had previously complained to a friend that after a massage session in a California hotel in Beverly Hills in May 2010, Weinstein followed her to the bathroom and engaged in self-gratification. The producer denies any possibility of this.
His lawyers opposed allowing Gibson to testify. Human rights activist Mark Werksman threatened that if the actor appeared in court, he would be cross-examined about his loud anti-Semitic statements.
The judge replied that the discussion of Gibson’s racist beliefs had nothing to do with the Weinstein case, but she would allow him to ask him if the actor’s personal bias against the producer’s nationality played a role. Especially since Weinstein criticized Gibson’s 2004 film The Passion of the Christ.
Weinstein is already serving a 23-year sentence on a 2020 sentence for rape and sexual assault in New York City. The State Supreme Court agreed to hear his appeal in the case.
The new trial is expected to last eight weeks.
