Active lifestyle lovers were united by the Republican athletics cross in Petrozavodsk

On Saturday, October 8, it was noisy on the territory of the Kurgan sports complex in Petrozavodsk. The traditional Republican athletics cross, dedicated to the memory of Arne Kivekas, gathered more than 250 participants. Teams from 17 districts and urban districts of our republic arrived in the capital of Karelia.
Before the start of the competition, Larisa Podsadnik, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia for Social Affairs, delivered a speech.
“Sport has no boundaries. Sport has a mood, optimism, strength, the will to win. After all, sport is a synonym for not just a healthy, beautiful body – it is the engine of our entire society,” said Podsadnik.
Participants fought for the titles of the best in seven age groups: boys and girls born in 2007-2008, older boys and girls (2005-2006), juniors born in 2003-2004, youth (2000-2002), men and women who were born in 1999-1982, veterans (1981-1972), as well as veterans who were born in 1971 and older.
The distances differed depending on the age group. So, athletes overcame from one kilometer to five. The longest distance was prepared for men from 23 to 40 years old.
