In Moscow, more than 4.2 million voters voted in the presidential elections. This was announced by the head of the Moscow City Election Commission Olga Kirillova. Most Muscovites voted using the remote electronic voting system (DEG).
“As of 20 o’clock, a total of 4,286,496 ballots have been issued, of which 3,188,462 are in the DEG, paper ballots are 1,098,034. The numbers cannot but please us, these are high turnout rates,” Ms. Kirillova said. Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Election Commission Dmitry Reut said that in the capital, “clearly more than 50%” of voters included in the electronic lists voted in the elections.
According to the Central Election Commission, according to the results of the second day of voting, voter turnout in the presidential elections in Russia as a whole was 58%. According to Ella Pafilova, during two days of voting in 20 regions at 29 polling stations there were attempts to set fire to or damage boxes with ballots. There were eight arson attempts in total.
