A well-known expert in the field of artificial intelligence, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Kalyaev, believes that the use of “swarm” tactics of unmanned vehicles is the most effective approach in combat conditions.

The scientist explained to TASS that the advantage of such tactics is high survivability. Due to the fact that the flock consists of a large number of simple combat units, the destruction of one or even several of them does not lead to the loss of combat effectiveness of the rest.

In addition, Kalyaev emphasized, the use of flock tactics reduces financial and time costs. Creating a large number of simple units to organize a pack is much easier, faster and cheaper than developing a single “super machine”.

Another advantage is the speed of response. Each combat unit in the flock is capable of making decisions independently, which reduces reaction time to changes in the combat situation.
