Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev fought at the UFC tournament

A Russian, a native of Dagestan, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, and a Swedish fighter of Chechen origin, Khamzat Chimaev, fought during the UFC 280 tournament. The tournament management is not going to punish the fighters.
The fight took place during the announcement of the results of the duel between Russian Islam Makhachev and Brazilian Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title. Makhachev is the ward of Abubakar Nurmagomedov’s brother Khabib.
UFC President Dana White said the organization has no plans to impose any sanctions. “You know, these are fights, it happens here. Yes, it goes beyond the scope at times, but what can you do,” Mr. White said at a press conference (quoted from TASS).
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in 2021 called Khabib Nurmagomedov a “UFC project” and expressed the hope that Khamzat Chimaev would take his belt. The Swedish fighter then said that he would “tear” Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Abubakar Nurmagomedov fought Russian Gadzhi Omargadzhiev at UFC 280. Nurmagomedov won by unanimous decision. He now has 17 wins, 3 losses and one draw.
